The Governors would like to welcome you to St Laurence Church Infant School. We work closely with the staff and parents to ensure our school is a wonderful place for the children to learn. They have fun, learning in a happy, safe, Christian environment, where all children are encouraged and helped to achieve their best.
The staff are friendly and very committed to teaching the children. Many of the Governors have first hand experience of the support given and are sure your children will be happy and thrive at St Laurence Church Infant School.

Governors have responsibility for the efficient management of the school, acting within the framework set out by national legislation and by the policies of the Diocese and the Local Authority. They are not expected to take detailed decisions about the day-to-day running of the school; that is the role of the Headteacher.
The Governing Body meets at least once a term, and the three committees [Finance, Site & Buildings, Curriculum, and Staffing, Admissions and Pupil Welfare] meet termly or as necessary.
The Governors are required to fund 10% of all exterior building works and rely on the parents’ annual voluntary contributions for this.
When a Parent Governor vacancy occurs all parents of the appropriate school are notified and invited to stand for election.
